The joys of flying

I am sitting in a VIP lounge in London, and I have to start to describe my experiences before they become too many to remember.

I have just flown on SAS from Oslo to London first Class. There were 21 seats in first class, and it turned out to be just me and another gentleman. After I was sitting down, a stewardess came very quickly with a great stack of magazines that I could choose from. These weren’t your regular “free airline magazines”, but REAL ones that you have to subscribe to like TIME. When they closed the curtains after take off I was in another world!! A world of service and value – where the flight attendants go out of their way to serve! I honestly felt like I spent the last hours in a restaurant, and not on an airplane. The other man sitting in first class was thankfully a row behind me. Just close enough so I could see what he got from to drink, but not so close that he could see me and see how “un-first class” I can be! After I got my juice, I was shocked to see that he had 3 or 4 drinks on his tray! It looked like one was wine and one was Champagne. Ok, I figured that looking at my one drink I need to start getting really bold about this. But I didn’t have to even look for the stewardess because suddenly, boom, she was there! She asked me if I wanted anything more to drink,, and I am pretty sure that she meant it! It seemed like she could read my thoughts!

(as I type this, I am getting cracker crumbs all over my shirt and realizing that maybe, just maybe, some of these people could tell that if they looked closely I am not one of them. I am however, endeavoring to be incarnated into this wonderful culture as we have been teaching this spring in the Mission’s Course.

Ok,… so I got some pictures of the food, and they just kept coming back and asking me of I wanted more! I got a wonderful chocolate with my coffee and Bailey’s!I was just so happy and enjoying the love of God!) The glasses were made of GLASS! I could of broke one of them if I threw them (which I had no reason to because At one time, one the poor people that I had forgotten were behind the curtain came and used our washroom. I chose to forgive him because he could see for just a moment how privileged we are!

Now I am sitting in this lounge wondering how I will eat this food when I am already full & if I can just sneak some into my bag without anyone noticing…. Hmmm….

The lounge is much bigger than I thought. Various lovely sitting areas, a downstairs and an upstairs both equipped with instant Specialty Coffee machines and enough snack to really satisfy me. Crackers & cheese, veggies, wine, beer, juice, magazines…. All without paying! How will I ever travel in coach again??

Oh no…. my flight is boarding soon…. I better get eating and experiencing!
